Tyne Rivers Trust > The River Tyne > Tyne Catchment Partnership

Hosted by Tyne Rivers Trust

Tyne Rivers Trust hosts the Tyne Catchment Partnership, established in 2012 and operating in line with Defra’s Catchment Based Approach (CaBA). The partnership brings together organisations from across the Tyne catchment to improve water quality, restore river habitats, reduce flood risk, and support climate resilience across the River Tyne and its tributaries. The Partnership maintains the Tyne Catchment Plan.

What the Partnership Does

The Tyne Catchment Partnership coordinates catchment wide action to:

•           Improve water quality and reduce pollution

•           Deliver natural flood management and nature based solutions

•           Restore and reconnect river, wetland and riparian habitats

•           Support long term climate resilience

•           Engage communities through volunteering, citizen science and education

•           Improve access to nature

•           Share evidence and data to support informed decision making

This collaborative approach helps deliver a healthier, more resilient River Tyne environment for people and wildlife.

About the Catchment Based Approach (CaBA)

The Catchment Based Approach (CaBA) is a national Defra supported framework designed to deliver sustainable improvements to the water environment. CaBA partnerships:

•           Address water quality, flooding and habitat challenges in a joined up way

•           Work with organisations, land managers, farmers and communities

•           Deliver practical, evidence led, nature based solutions

•           Coordinate funding and resources for greater impact

The Tyne Catchment Partnership forms part of this national network, improving rivers across England through collaborative action.
