River Safety Issues
In an emergency please contact the Police, Fire Service or Ambulance Service on 999. To contact Mountain Rescue, dial 999 and ask for the Police, who will put you in contact with your local rescue team.
In a non-emergency dial 101 to contact your local Police Station.
Flooding
Ring the Environment Agency’s Floodline on 0845 988 1188. If there is immediate threat to life call the emergency services on 999.
We have no statutory powers or responsibility for flooding. If you are concerned that you or your property is at immediate risk from flooding, you should contact the Environment Agency on 0845 988 1188.
The Environment Agency website contains maps and information about the flood risk in your area.
Pollution
In the first instance please contact the Environment Agency’s hotline on 0800 807060. We would also like to know about pollution incidents: contact us.
Wildlife crime
Please contact the Wildlife Officer of your local police force by calling 101. The Northumbria Police Wildlife Coordinator is Don Churchill who can be contacted by calling 101 ext 68222.
