John currently serves as chief philanthropy officer and deputy CEO at the Community Foundation for Tyne & Wear and Northumberland. As a native of Tyneside, John’s career has spanned corporate communications, marketing, community investment, and philanthropy in the UK and the US. Prior to joining the Community Foundation in 2022, John spent ten years in the United States, where he held leadership positions with charities serving communities in Detroit and across the state of Michigan. In his current role, he champions the support of the North East’s environmental organisations and its natural assets.
