Dr Jack Bloomer

Jack manages the day-to-day operations of RCS and has developed extensive project and stakeholder management experience while delivering much of its work.

He uses these skills to find environmentally-friendly solutions to achieve the best outcome for both the river and the client.

This work has included:

• The design and delivery of green engineering solutions to tackle river erosion problems to protect both private land and public assets like footpaths throughout the UK
• Advising clients in England and Scotland on ways of working with natural processes to improve habitat for protected species like Atlantic salmon in a way that is both sustainable and effective
• Designing scientific research projects with partners in the USA to inform effective use of water resources to support both conservation and human need.

Jack has a Masters Degree in Aquatic Resource Management from King’s College London and a PhD at the University of Southampton where he studied the impacts of river processes on salmonid survival.
