FISHING REPORT – KIELDER RELEASE ON 20 MAY

NWL are planning to commence work on Eel Passage solutions at Riding Mill on 16th May, it is planned the works will be completed in four days.

To facilitate the works the radial gates will be raised to allow safe channel access downstream . The fish pass will be operated  to allow passage for fish during the course of the works.

The EA has requested  a Kielder release on 20th May to assist smolt migration during this period of low flow.

The fish counter at Riding Mill recorded 172 upstream counts in April and 71 fish recorded up to the 10th May. The total count for the season to date is 316, which is encouraging considering the lack of meaningful rainfall.
