FISHING REPORT – 10 AUGUST 2021

Good news for the river! At last, some decent rainfall to freshen the rivers, particularly the South Tyne and as expected the fish have responded in good numbers.

The fish counter at Riding Mill recorded 1,944 upstream counts on the 7th and 8th August, bringing the count to the 9th of August  to 3,267. Around 6,500 fish were recorded in July, the yearly count to date is 12,270.

The latest information indicates around 30 fish per hour are passing over the counter, with a high tide of 5.07 mtrs on the 10th prospects are very good.

Whilst much of this season has been disappointing, a combination of a natural increase in flow and a reduction in water temperature has greatly improved conditions in the river.
