Education Volunteers Needed

Are you interested in helping to deliver fun, engaging activities to school children both inside and outside of the classroom?

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who can assist our Engagement Support Officer on a regular basis to deliver interactive and hands-on sessions to schools across the River Tyne catchment. These sessions range from half-day to full-day and sometimes involve lifting and moving equipment — so we’re looking for helpers who don’t mind getting hands-on! We cover themes such as climate change, river health and industrial legacy and there is a mix of classroom work, river visits and trips across the catchment.

We are especially keen to hear from volunteers who’d like to help with our exciting new Tyne Interactive Model Tour — a travelling, hands-on model that brings the river system to life for children and communities.

Training and support provided — all you need is enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to learn! ‍ Activities take place throughout the Tyne catchment (Northumberland, Tyne Valley, Newcastle, Gateshead and more).

This is a great opportunity to help us deliver our learning programme through which we aim to inspire the next generation of river stewards to care for and respect our amazing River Tyne and the people and wildlife that depend on it.

You don’t need to be an expert, as guidance will be given. Just bring your enthusiasm!
