Balsam Bashing Volunteers Needed

During the Summer we will be at various locations tackling the spread of Himalayan Balsam.

Himalayan balsam is an invasive species that can quickly take over riverbanks and woodlands, outcompting native plants and reducing biodiversity. So we’ll be out and about pulling Himalayan balsam out of the ground before it produces seeds – and we’d like your help.

Joining us on our balsam bashing excursions is a great way to get outdoors, contribute to conservation efforts, and enjoy a bit of physical activity with like minded people, while helping to manage invasive plants.

We also need volunteers to help us with SmartRivers monitoring and riverbank stabilising in September.

If you’d like to join us, or just to find out more, email us: volunteer@tyneriverstrust.org
