Tyne river report 2nd April 2019
Tyne salmon count as recorded at Riding Mill for the year to date is 50, of which 18 were recorded in March. Recorded salmon rod catches are well below average, however this can quickly change given improved river conditions. Following overnight rain the rivers are rising, Alston carrying an additional 35cms. Further rain is expected through Wednesday.
Trout fishing opened on the 22nd March with rods out on the Derwent enjoying some decent fishing, nymphs and small attractors have done well, with the occasional fish rising to dry patterns. Fly life has been rather sporadic with dark olives encouraging fish to rise, surprisingly false march brown duns were spotted at our offices in Corbridge.
