Martin leads the Tyne Metal Mines Project which focuses on reducing the environmental impacts from historic metal mines in the North Pennines.
His previous experience is largely on European Interreg funded projects including groundwater source protection & peatlands.
He has a BSc in Geology from University College Cork & an MSc in Hydrogeology and Water Management from Newcastle University where he investigated the potential for utilising legacy coal mine working as flood storage beneath the city of Newcastle upon Tyne.
