SALMON & TROUT FISHING ON THE RIVER TYNE

Spring 2020

Following the wettest winter in modern times, river great and small are fining down into fishable order. There will be some interesting changes to the rivers, new gravels, new pools and new holes to surprise you! Please take care when wading.

The first salmon caught off the River Tyne this season was a fine 34” spring salmon caught by Mike Wood on fly. This fine fish was caught on the Northumbrian Anglers Federation water. For very affordable salmon and sea trout fishing on the Tyne, Coquet and Till, contact W Farndale 0n 01669 620984.

Trout fishing on the Tyne and its tributaries opens on the 22nd March , again for very affordable fishing for brown trout and grayling ( when in season ) the River Derwent offers some fine fishing over some 16 miles of river via Axwell Park and Derwent Valley AA , www.apdvaa.co.uk and Derwent Angling Club, www.derwentangling.co.uk .

Tyne Rivers Trust also offers trout fishing on a number of beats including the River Derwent via the Tyne Angling Passport, book your beat here

Derwent Reservoir is now open for rainbow and brown trout fishing  www.watersideparksuk.com .

Whilst there are lots of open space and quiet areas at these locations, please be mindful of the current health situation in the UK and follow government advice at all times.
