PLASTIC FREE JULY

Small changes make a big difference

We know from our litter picks that single-use plastic is a huge problem for the Tyne rivers and the creatures that live there. On an average litter pick, 90% of the rubbish our volunteers collect is plastic. If it wasn’t for our volunteers, this plastic would eventually flow from the Tyne, out to sea, harming marine life.

There are small changes that we can make to reduce single -use plastics. By single-use, we mean something that is used once then thrown away like supermarket packaging, wet wipes, pop bottles or takeaway coffee cups.

Here are a few ideas for easy swaps.
