FISHING REPORT: 8 SEPTEMBER 2022

Finally we have some significant rainfall, albeit heavy rain for shorter periods leading to spikes in river levels. As this is written, very heavy showers are moving over the catchment, the EA river level prediction is  an increase in flow peaking at Hexham around 22.00 on the 8th September.

Further heavy rainfall is forecast for Friday 9th September leading to a series of spates.

The counter at Riding Mill recorded a minimum count of 419 for September to date, as there was some time when the counter was not fully operational it is likely a small number of fish were not recorded.

On the falling water the recent count recorded was 161. It is likely that the count to date is well over 24,000. It has been a very difficult fishing season to date, hopefully a change to unsettled weather will improve migration and catches.
