Fishing report – 01 September 2021
The rain last weekend created a small spate in the South Tyne, disappointedly this was of short duration despite another small rise in the early hours on Monday 23rd August.
Fish were active during this lift in river levels, 723 were counted on Sunday with an additional 324 on Monday up to 9.00 a m . The fish count for August up to 9.25 a m was 6,051 bringing the total for the year to date to over 15,000.
Many of the running fish appeared to be sea trout, although some very fresh salmon were seen on Monday.
The high tides remain over 5.0 metres until the 27th August, river temperatures at Bywell peaked at 17.5C at 17.15 on the 23rd.
