River Fly
The River Fly monitoring project is constantly looking for volunteers to take on a new monitoring site or to help monitor existing sites. Each volunteer is asked to undergo one full day of training. This is based in Prudhoe, normally on one weekend day at the end of April each year. The training workshop consists of some classroom style teaching followed by spending most if the day out on the river bank and looking at real samples.
Having completed the day, volunteers are asked to monitor a site once a month for at least one year. Refresher / socials are organised throughout the year to let people catch up with their fellow team members, provide access to microscopes and experts and to pass on any useful information on the progress of the River Fly project as well as other related topics.
Visit the River Fly Partnership website to learn more about the project.
